Galerie Esther Woerdehoff in Paris is hosting a double exhibition, “Nudes” by Rene Groebli and “Le Chateau Rouge” by Martin Essl that will be on view through October 8, 2016. Swiss photographer Rene Groebli’s “Nudes” represents a magnificent study of the female body, while “Le Chateau Rouge” by Austrian-born Martin Essl is the first volume of a series of photographic essays. Rene Groebli has challenged the technical aspects of the medium and explored overprint, distorting or utilizing the grain of the silver film, bringing a perennial atmosphere around the model’s figures. The photographs, rather than being the simple depiction of nudity, creates a fascinating representation of sensuality through the use of lines and forms, lights and shadows in the compositions of the images. “Le Chateau Rouge”, named after the Paris Metro station, represents a sensitive and urban fiction about Martin Essl’s daily life. Each photograph by the artist is a poem, with colors and light that illuminates the details of a city, a woman’s body, a piece of sky or the front of a bus, with a magical aura. The exhibition is on view at Galerie Esther Woerdehoff, 36 Rue Falguière, 75015 Paris, France.
