Martin Browne Contemporary, Sydney, is hosting artist Savanhdary Vongpoothorn's 'Ramayana on the Mekong'. The exhibition will run through October 23, 2016.Creatively inspired by the simultaneous and interesting narration technique in Indian miniature paintings, the artist set this work in the Naga city of Vientiane and layered it with Lao language quotations from battle scenes in the Rama Jataka. ‘Lak’ is Lao for ‘Laksmana’ and ‘Lam’ is ‘Rama’.
