Forty timeless photographs clicked by William Eggleston will be put up for exhibition by David Zwirner, New York. This is Zwirner’s first exhibition with Eggleston since announcing the gallery’s exclusive worldwide representation of the artist. Taken in the 1980s ago as part of his The Democratic Forest project, a majority of these works have not been exhibited before. They have been selected from among the 10,000 negatives he took back then. Known for his distinct pictorial style, he transforms the ordinary, like rural back roads, industrial and residential environs, architectural details, restaurant interiors and parking lots into poetic images. His keen vision gives liberal space to the lens, resulting in more than what meets the eye. The “Father of Color Photography” never depicts the obvious. Eggleston has said, “I am at war with the obvious” For more information log on to http://www.davidzwirner.com/exhibitionThe exhibition can be seen at David Zwirner, 537 West 20th Street, New York till December 17.Click on the slide show for a sneak peak of the exhibition.
