Bhajju Shyam’s First India Solo at Ojas Art, New Delhi

Anubhav Nath’s Ojas Art will soon host the first India solo of internationally-renowned Gond artist Bhajju Shyam. Titled “Maa Matre,” the exhibition will run from November 17 through December 11. The artist has dedicated the show to his mother, and therefore the title (Matre means mother).The upcoming exhibition will present 40 works by 45-year-old Shyam, each revolving around nature, a subject matter that appears the most in Gond paintings. Bhopal-based Shyam, a nephew of the best known Gond artist Jangarh Singh Shyam (1962-2001), earned international fame with his 2004 book, “The London Jungle Book.” He has illustrated more than 10 books.“The London Jungle Book” is a visual travelogue of Shyam’s visit to London, where he had gone to paint an upmarket Indian restaurant. The book, published by Tara Books and the Museum of London, was released in November 2004, along with a three-month exhibition at the Museum. Since then, it has been translated into four languages and has sold more than 30,000 copies.Shyam is also the recipient of the 2015 Ojas Art Award for Master Artist, given away in collaboration with Jaipur Literature Festival and Teamwork Arts.— The exhibition will run at Ojas Art, 1AQ, Qutub Minar, Main Roundabout, Mehrauli, New Delhi, from November 17 through December 11, 11am - 7pm, closed on Monday.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the exhibition.  p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px 'Minion Pro'}
