“Artifact / Amulet” is sculptor artist Kate Budd’s first solo exhibition at 2731 Prospect Art Gallery, Ohio. The exhibition is on view till December 3, 2016.Budd’s creativity finds expression in self-contained forms like stone, a piece of fruit or an Anglo Saxon belt buckle. She draws inspiration from vignettes and images that fascinated her as a child in her native Scotland, notably ancient Pictish stone spheres. These mysterious Pictish spheres of incredible beauty are one of the greatest archaeological enigmas of the 21st century.Budd adopts the ancient lost wax casting process to mould and transform hand-carved wax forms into aesthetic bronze and silver objects.
