Magician Space, Beijing presents the exhibition “The Darkroom That Is Not Dark” through February 26, 2017.The solo exhibition by Hong Kong artist Trevor Yeung takes the viewers into an environment of transient and darkened private spaces to examine how living forms, ecological systems, artificial and natural structures articulate human behavior and unspoken desires. With the use of objects such as infrared lamps, heated fish tanks, hybrid roses, and others, Yeung attempts to heighten a psychic moment of obscurity and bring out different responses from the spectators. By employing regulatory mechanisms borrowed from the world of botanic ecology and aquaculture, the presentation explores the question: what happens to an individual’s deep, dark and secret feelings once they are no longer in the dark?The exhibition is on view at Magician Space, 798 East Road, 798 Art Zone, 2 Jiuxianqiao Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing 100015.
