'After Party: Collective Dance and Individual Gymnastics' will be on view at Blindspot Gallery, Hong Kong, from January 14 through March 4, 2017.This exhibition is curated by Leo Li Chen and will showcase works of five artists—Lu Yang, Hu Weiyi, Chen Wei, Hao Jingban, and Jen Liu. Originating from notes of Roland Barthes from when he visited China in 1974, this exhibition will explore the role dance plays in the context of China’s rapidly changing social climate. The artworks on display will examine not only the transformation of dance but also its variation in collectivism and the various aspects of individual will. By interpreting the diverse dance cultures, forms, and bodies, these artists’ works examine the complicated relationship between individual will and ideological control of the state. The exhibition is on view at Blindspot Gallery, 15/F, Po Chai Industrial Building, 28 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong.
