PIFO Gallery, Beijing, brings the works of artist and photographer Liliane Tomasko (born 1967) for the first time to China in the exhibition, ‘Feeling Folding’. The exhibition will be on view from January 12 to February 26, 2017.‘Feeling Folding’ will provide a chronological survey of Liliane Tomasko’s paintings between 1999 and 2016 along with three photographic works and one sculpture created exclusively for the venue. The artist paints a rich inner life through domestic objects, transfiguring matter in specific spaces. In the words of curator Jiang Yuehong, “Enigmatic paper bags, sigh-provoking folds and dreamlike shadows, traces that turn and disappear, colors that shimmer and interlace with rhythm, moods that permeate the lines and shapes - this is the work of Liliane Tomasko.” The artist’s pre-occupation with domestic ordinary objects, clothing and textile brings to mind the works of Berthe Morisot, the great impressionist painter who found life in fabrics and textiles, and the Italian artist Giorgio Morandi who found a way of articulating inner life in domestic objects.Tomasko’s works have been exhibited widely in Europe and the USA and are part of public collections including Kunstmuseum Bern, Switzerland, IVAM-Institut Valencia d'Art Modern, Valencia, Spain, and Try-me, Virginia, USA.The exhibition is on view at PIFO Gallery, B-11, 798 Art Zone, No.2 Jiuxianqiao Rd, Chaoyang District, Beijing, China, 100015.For details visit: http://pifo.cn/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
