Angell Gallery, Toronto presents “The Good Glazier,” a solo exhibition of recent paintings by Erin Loree. The exhibition runs from January 13 through January 28, 2017.Erin Loree was born in 1988 in Gananoque, Ontario and graduated from Ontario College of Art and Design University with a BFA in Drawing and Painting. The Toronto-based artist’s richly expressive paintings consist of vibrant colors. In “The Good Glazier,” the works on display are inspired by the Zen concept of ‘beginner's mind’ - an attitude that embraces openness and being in the present moment. To create these visionary portals, Loree begins with veils of transparent acrylic, over which oils are applied, scraped away, then re-applied, using a variety of tools including rags, squeegees, cardboard and brushes. The paintings evolve over time and surfaces are continuously reworked and disrupted, leaving stains and traces of previous marks. The exhibition is on view at Angell Gallery, 1444 Dupont St., Unit 15, (Entrance off Campbell Ave.) Toronto, Ontario M6P 4H3, Canada.
