Sophie Gannon Gallery, Richmond, is hosting an exhibition of Judith Wright's works, titled 'Significant Others', on view from February 14 to March 4, 2017. The exhibition is a remarkable return to painting for this Brisbanebased artist after a decade spent making three epic sculptural installations - 'A Journey', 'Destination' and 'Ancestors'.'Significant Others' reiterates in paint Wright’s continued focus on the vulnerability of the human condition and the power of relationships. While the installations reflect more directly her previous career as a ballet dancer, there is, for Wright, a performative aspect to these works on paper, the scale relates to body span, the images to bodily form, the surface, waxed Japanese paper, mimics that of skin.
