Photographs by French artist of Algerian origin Bruno Boudjelal are being displayed at La Filature, Scène nationale in Mulhouse, titled “La traversée des apparences” or “The crossing of appearances” through February 26, 2017.Bruno Boudjelal practices photography as a way of life that constantly interrogates his own identity and confronts us with ours. When his father decides to return to Algeria, he accompanies him and discovers at once a country, a family, a world crossed by violence, landscapes that speak to him and individuals with whom he talks without really knowing how to locate. Hence, the ten years of a very personal exploration of Algeria, between travel notebook and testimony, which will lead him to go from black and white to color, to assume a subjective point of view marked by its personal history, curious to put into perspective the daily and the History. Tensed between two continents, between two cultures, Bruno Boudjelal claims his capacity to understand and transcribe a complex problem between the North and the South. The exhibition is at La Filature, Scène nationale, 20 allée Nathan Katz, 68100 Mulhouse.
