Galerie Xippas, Geneva, is hosting the works of French visual artist Bertille Bak (born 1983), in an exhibition titled, ‘Bien arrivés. Temps splendide.’ The exhibition will be on view from January 20 to March 11, 2017.Bertille Bak questions the notions of identity, territory and memory through videos, interactive installations, sculptures and drawings revolving around the theme of travel. She tries to blend in a community to observe their rituals, gestures and objects. Then, with the complicity of the people she meets, she builds a story that is neither a documentary nor a fiction. Bertille Bak's work is about the poetry and utopia that can be found in every context. The video “Transports à dos d'hommes” investigates the life of a gypsy population in Paris who live in the constant fear of being forced to leave and decamp. On another note, the video “Le tour de Babel” follows a monstrous cruise ship, synonymous of all-inclusive trip, through its different stages to reach its final destination. The exhibition will be on view at Galerie Xippas, Rue des Sablons 6 & Rue des Bains 61, 1205, Geneva, Switzerland. For details, visit, www.xippas.comClick on the Slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
