Haines Gallery will present two solo exhibitions titled Darren Waterston’s ‘Architectonic Forms’ and Maurizio Anzeri’s ‘Lay it on the Line’ through February 25, 2017. Haines Gallery will present two concurrent solo exhibitions, featuring new and recent works by Darren Waterston and Maurizio Anzeri. Waterston’s newest body of works continues to explore the coalescence between painting and architecture in Western art history. The centerpiece of the exhibition, Triptych (twilight), 2014, is based on Matthias Grünewald’s sixteenth century masterpiece, The Isenheim Altar and casts a spectral halo from the back of its hinged panels. Darren Waterston (b. 1965) lives and works in New York. London-based Italian artist Maurizio Anzeri is best known for his innovative take on portraiture, using brightly colored embroidery thread to create surreal, uncanny portraits from found vintage photographs. 'Lay it on the Line' sees the artist turning his attention toward landscapes. Maurizio Anzeri (b. 1969) lives and works in London.Solo exhibitions are on view at Haines Gallery 49 Geary Street, Fifth floor, San Francisco, CA 94108.
