“Athenree,” an exhibition featuring the artworks of New Zealand-born Brooklyn-based artist Jude Broughan (b.1976) will run through February 25, 2017 at Benrubi Gallery, New York. The selection on exhibit includes assemblages, loose-hanging works, mixed-media panels and photo collages that reflect the languages of painting, printmaking, photography and collage that play with space and form, line and color. Athenree is a tiny beach town in the coastal Bay of Plenty in New Zealand, native to Broughan. Drawing from the process of travelling and instability of place, the artist’s new works looks at the here and now while simultaneously questioning the location and mutability of time. The exhibition is on view at Benrubi Gallery, 521 W 26th St, Floor 2, New York, NY 10001, United States.
