“Horses,” an exhibition featuring the works of Brooklyn-based artist Tm Davy (b.1980) will run through February 19, 2017 at 11R Gallery, New York. The selection comprises of a new set of paintings by Davy and includes five major new works, all oil on canvas. The show conforms to the here and now. The focus is on the equine, which is a repository of the formative metaphor of paintings being meaning or the archetypal mirrors to the artist. Davy was largely influenced by an old family photograph of a man with two horses, which he later discovered to be his patrilineal great-great-great-grandfather, a German 48er who began his family’s American livelihood with a livery stable that stood at the exact plot of the current 11R gallery location.The exhibition is on view at 11R Gallery, Ground Floor, 195 Chrystie St, New York, NY 10002, United States.
