Christine König Gallery presents Uri Aran’s “Time For An Early Mark” curated by Moritz Wesseler at their Vienna venue. The works in the exhibition suggest a narrative form that is characterized by great candor and appeals to the imagination of the viewer. The presentation also includes drawings that are witness to a clear narrative pursuit, the physical expression of which ranges from portraits to still lifes and is sometimes comic-like, sometimes naturalistic, and gives the impression of being a part of a larger continuum. For the exhibition in Vienna, Aran created a new group of works that touch upon the central theme of “Curated by_ 2017” in very different ways. On the whole, the artist investigates the foundations of language and communication, the conditions of social interaction, and the workings of emotions.Uri Aran (b. 1977, Jerusalem, lives in New York) re-contextualizes characters, symbols, words, gestures, and images function, as a rule, as the starting point of artistic works within a practice that includes painting, drawing, photography, and films in his works. He graduated from Columbia University in 2007, and has since exhibited internationally, with major solo presentations. In 2015, the first major monograph on the artist’s work was published by JRP Ringier to mark his exhibitions at South London Gallery and Kunsthalle Zürich, with texts by Fionn Meade and Liam Gillick, and an interview by Beatrix Ruf, Niels Olsen and Fredi Fischli. The exhibition will be on view from September 14 through October 10, 2017 at Christine Köenig Galerie, Schleifmuehlgasse 1A 1040 Vienna, Austria. For details, visit: http://www.christinekoeniggalerie.comClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
