Project 88 presents Amitesh Shrivastava’s "Trespassers & Translators” at the gallery’s Mumbai venue. The exhibition entitled "Trespassers & Translators” is the first solo exhibition of artist Amitesh Shrivastava at Project 88. The artist sets up an entry for the viewer's eye but the exits remain many. And whether the viewer's consciousness will emerge transformed, even by a few degrees, by this trip down the rabbit hole is anybody's guess. His kaleidoscopic brush-strokes, surprisingly wide palette of colors and faux-naive ink markings. All of these celebrate the precarity of trespassing - where one knows the lines well enough to pass off as the 'other' but one is never given a copy of the script.Amitesh Shrivastava (b.Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh in 1975) currently lives and works in Mumbai. He obtained his BFA from Khairagarh University in 1997, and an MFA from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda in 2000. Shrivastava mines his way through the experiential via acrylic paintings and ink drawings. He periodically breaks and remakes the brush-strokes, colour-palettes, hybridities, and protagonists of his pictorial world to reflect the continuous restructuring of his worldview. His works blur the divides between agrarian and technological economies to portray universal notions of humanity, social hierarchy, and the crumbling of our mediatized consciousness in beautiful, kaleidoscopic ways through expressionistic brush-strokes. The exhibition is on view through September 30, 2017 at Project 88, BMP Building, Ground Floor N.A. Sawant Marg Colaba, Mumbai - 400 005.For details, visit: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/project-88/overview Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
