Aye Gallery presents “The Path of Time,” an exhibition by artist Luo Mingjun at the gallery’s venue at Beijing.Luo Mingjun works mainly in acrylic, ink, and oil. In her works, she explores the haziness of memory, alienation, and the passage of time. The objects that mainly feature in her works are everyday objects and are autobiographical. While at a cultural level, these objects may seem pretty abstract ye they are very concrete in life. She uses free brushstrokes that pervade her representational works which are mostly cinematic images of people and places that are hazy and blurred.Born in 1963 in Sichuan province, China, Mingjun moved to Switzerland after her marriage in 1987. While in Switzerland, she started missing her life in China. It was when she felt motivated to go back to her roots and started reading Chinese literature that she developed an interest in Chinese fine arts such as ink and wash painting and calligraphy. She drew the images that were in photos in A4-size pages, scanned them and then completed the formal drawings. The images mostly include memories of her mother knitting a sweater; of her father sitting by the dining table, her friends and relatives, and images of various places in China that she has been to.The exhibition is on view through September 20, 2017 at Aye Gallery, Room 601, Unit 3, Yonghe Garden, Dongcheng District, Beijing 100013, China. For details, visit: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/aye-gallery/overviewClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
