Edwynn Houk Gallery presents Paolo Ventura’s works at their New York venue.Paolo Ventura’s new works will be presented at Edwynn Houk Gallery. The Italian photographer is best known for constructing and photographing stylized dioramas to tell visual stories with a cinematic quality. Most of his works lie in the intersection of fantasy and nostalgia, and he creates scenes that evoke the past in a way that is rich, dream-like, and occasionally surreal. There is a narrative quality about the works that is also seen in the current exhibit that the artist brings up in stories; he clearly seems to have a natural gift for narrative. All of his pictures have their own little mystery, a bombardment of character and atmosphere.Paolo Ventura (b. Milan 1968) studied at Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, Italy. His father was an author, whose works follow a similar style of narrative through images and artworks. Some of his recent works include "Pagliacci, Camera, Italian Center for Photography, Turin, Italy in 2017 and “Paolo Ventura. Obras de la Colecciòn Cotroneo,” Sala Municipales de Exposiciones, Valladolid, Spain. The self-confessed school truant and voracious reader worked as a fashion photographer for a decade before quitting to pursue art photography. Ventura is represented by Hasted Kraeutler Gallery NYC. The exhibition will be on view through November 11, 2017 at Edwynn Houk Gallery, 745 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10151.For details, visit: www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/edwynn-houk-gallery/overviewClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
