Kavi Gupta Gallery presents Tony Tasset and Scott Reeder at the "Chicago River Walk Public Sculpture Exhibition.” The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) and City of Chicago have installed several public art works along the 1.25-mile Chicago Riverwalk, which is also in conjunction with the Year of Public Art designated by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and DCASE. Tasset took a picture of his own eyeball, and blew it up to a veiny, three-story fiberglass orb. Then, there is the "Real Fake" installation by Scott Reeder, which makes use of simple forms to address complex ideas and cultural critique.Tony Tasset (b.Cincinnati) is an American multimedia artist whose works consist mainly of video, bronze, wax, sculpture, photography, film, and taxidermy. He also won an Award in Visual Arts along with $15,000 cash in 1989, John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship in 2006 and The Louis Comfort Tiffany Award.Scott Reeder (b.1970) works in Chicago and Detroit and lives in both cities.
