Featuring imaginative characters and dream-like spaces, a solo exhibition of works by Ian Paradine is currently on display at Anna Pappas Gallery in Melbourne until early December 2017. The multidisciplinary artist has created his new collection under the title “Morphing the Idol.” The exhibition is presented as a narrative examination of thought, dreaming, and the in-between states, presented through the guise of whimsical characters born straight from the depths of Paradine's imagination. With a new body of works presented to the viewers, the recurrent figures in this exhibition of works oscillate between physical and ethereal states of being, at times blending with air and landscape. These curious characters portray a deep introspection into both light and dark inner states of the human consciousness. Paradine studied at the Camberwell College of Arts in London. The artist has exhibited extensively in Europe, marking this exhibition as his second solo exhibition since his return to Australia in 2012. He is a multidisciplinary artist employing drawing, painting, photography, filmmaking, and video within his art practice, manifesting figurative dream-like hybrids existing between a reality we know and understand, and somewhere completely unfamiliar. The exhibition will be on view through December 2, 2017 at Anna Pappas Gallery, 2-4 Carlton St, Melbourne VIC 3181, Australia. For details visit: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/anna-pappas-gallery/overviewClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
