Edmond Gallery in Berlin is hosting “Any Dimension You Like” — the first solo exhibition by the new media artist Vvzela Kook in Europe. The show features three of her most distinctive series of works that represents her artistic journey from 2012 to date. In the projected works, the artist addresses subjects as complex as multiverse, space, artificial intelligence, explorations, human future and the psychology of evolution. Her portrayals of tomorrow offer to her viewers a more accessible yet intuitive way of contemplating her subjects of the science of the future and unexperimented technologies through her interpretations of her artistic language. The exhibition claims the title “Any Dimension You Like” that has become a sanguine enticement from the part of the artist to her viewers, which allows her to step into her own creation of multidimensional and capacious imaginative land and exist in the time or space. Her creations showcase a time when interplanetary travels are not a fantasy anymore but a very factual promise that would take place in about five years — it is already our time to consider the various ways of preserving our sanity and to maintain our well-being especially living in the space. Her creations summarize that sensory deprivation, cosmic rays, isolation as well as other conditions that are not so common to earthlings can create a massive psychological upheaval and behavioral disorders on our physical body in space.Kook’s ongoing series is created out of watercolor drawings “And if your head explodes with the dark forebodings to, I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon” created during 2016-2017, focuses on the artist’s concern on this. The show exhibits the four drawings which meticulously portrays the spaceships to position them against a backdrop of azure space with dotted tiny figures in spacesuit among them. These figures seem fragile especially in the vast background of the space and the heavy machinery featured. Through her representation the question is left unanswered, how prepared are human beings to embark on a journey as grave as this? The exhibition is on view from November 18, 2017 through January 13, 2018, at Edmond Gallery, Haubachstraße 17/19, 10585 Berlin. For details, visit:www.edmond-gallery.comClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the artworks.
