Galerie Christophe Gaillard presents an intense show featuring revolutionizing works of a group of artists titled, "Espace Privé" at their Paris venue. The show features some of the radiant works by Marcel Bascoulard, Luciano Castell, Hans Bellmer, Michel Journiac, Robert Heinecken, Edouard Le Vé, Thomas Ruff, Pierre Molinier, Cindy Sherman, and Miroslav Tichy. The exhibition celebrates the occasion of Paris Photo at the Galerie Christophe Gaillard presenting “Espace Privé” which translates to English as ‘Private Space.'The exhibition homes a striking collection of works created by the neurotic artists including Hans Bellmer whose book “Die Puppe” released back in 1966 alongside the photographic works of Pierre Molinier and all the other featured artists listed before wreck a confusing irruption to explore suggestive situations. Their processes go for constraining the bodies to make their expressions befitting their fantasies and to somewhat subdue them. They perceive it to be the arbitrary nature of desires. Their exploration is of how bodies fold and unfold. The Ball Joint theory by Bellmer upon which he built his doll, were joined with its followers. To this the artist says, “In order for such a doll, filled with emotional content but suspected of being merely a representation, a fictitious reality, to go out into the world, face the shock of encounters, and find evidence of its own existence...” Hans Bellmer had written this text for the catalogue of the ‘Surrealist International Exhibition’ which had taken place back in 1947. He once said that, “People wanted to see me as a libertine, alcoholic, addict, neurotic, surrealist, unstable, homosexual, seducer of young girls...”In reference with a similar thought, Breton wrote to Molinier back in 1955 : “Today, you’ve become the master of vertigo. Your photographs don’t leave a shadow of a doubt as to your aspirations and it seems difficult to me to be more troubling. They are as beautiful as they are scandalous. Your work provokes a never ending thrill that enables me to assess their magical power. I love your scorched and heartbreaking climate.” The artworks presented at the exhibition resonate with the lines above with all and every artwork presented in the exhibition. The exhibition is on view through November 25, 2017, at Galerie Christophe Gaillard, 5 rue Chapon 75003 Paris. For details, visit: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/galerie-christophe-gaillard/overview
