Mandy Barker's exhibition, "Plastic Sea" is on view at Gallery East Wing, Dubai.UK-based Mandy Barker's haunting and thought-provoking photography casts an apologetic look at the problem of plastic waste in our environment. A global shocking pandemic of plastic waste has poisoned our seas and coastlines, accumulating at the speed of lightning, and is now an undeniable threat to our civilization and marine existence. The ocean carries it all — from fishing nets and used syringes, to water bottles, and one time use packages, containers and bags, etc. Plastic waste has taken over our natural environment. It is predicted that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in our seas. Barker's photographs raise much needed awareness about plastic pollution in the oceans, whilst simultaneously highlighting the terrible effects the debris has on marine life and ultimately, our own.
