Christopher Roth is hosting his new project “Mise-En-Scène — Architectural Portraits” at the German Center for Architecture, DAZ, Berlin. Christopher Roth in collaboration with Sam Chermaye, Arno Brandlhuber and “Blow Out” (The Film) will present the project at German Center for Architecture, DAZ, and Esther Schipper Gallery will also join in collaboration.“Blow Out” was mostly filmed in and around La Cupola, a dome-like structure that was built for the Italian modernist filmmaker Michelangelo Antonioni and his lady love — the actress Monica Vitti by the architect Dante Bini. Shot around this structure, the film summons the histories and the memories associated with the building, evoking a strange emotion as the building was built for a couple who split up before the completion of the building. The emotions are played by the three women who appear to visit the site and vanish and reappear.“Mise-En-Scène — Architectural Portraits” puts together a series of work showcasing the layers of reinterpretations associated with the iconographies of modernist buildings. This project also presents videos by artist Peter Welz, film and video works by David Maljkovic and Christopher Roth, alongside “Blow Out.” Presenting a series of video works, this project’s objective is to transform the buildings into the subjective actors creating new stories. The exhibition is on view through February 4 2018, at German Center for Architecture, DAZ, Wilhelmine-Gemberg-Weg 6, 10179 Berlin, Germany. For details, visit: http://www.daz.de/en/mise-en-scene/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the artworks.
