Freight + Volume will host David Baskin’s “The Speculative Gaze” at its New York venue. The exhibition hosts a new body of work by David Baskin. These works consist of bronze sculptures, prints, and assemblages of chrome objects. The exhibition uses the Dutch Golden Age and its art as a framework to present a vision of contemporary consumerism and socio-economic realities. The artist uses exalted materiality with a sense of anxiety and doubt by juxtaposing a cadre of sumptuous luxury items with such as skulls and angels. The exhibition will be on view from February 9 through March 11, 2018, at Freight + Volume, 97 Allen St. (storefront) New York, NY 10002.For details, visit: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/freight-volume/overviewClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
