Melbourne’s Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) has announced a major exhibition of work by the internationally acclaimed London-based conceptual artist Ryan Gander.Gander is best known for using a wide variety of materials to create playful and engaging works that explore connections between the real and the fictional, the overlooked and the commonplace.According to ACCA, “Gander encourages viewers to make their own connections and invent their own narrative in order to solve the charade staged by the artist in his work.”Titled “Read Only,” the exhibition will bring together a collection of Gander’s more recent video, installation, and mixed-media works. One of the highlights will be “Ampersand” (2012) which consists of 66 everyday items and works from the artist’s collection, presented on a conveyor belt set on a continuous cycle behind a wall in the gallery. The exhibition will also feature works from the artist’s 2013 series “Pushed into a corner by the logic of my own making along” in addition to “Two hundred and sixty seven degrees below every kind of zero,” 2014, and “Porthole to Culturefield Revisited,” 2010.“Read Only” is curated by ACCA’s Artistic Director Juliana Engberg and Associate Curator Hannah Mathews. The exhibition is at ACCA from June 4 to August 2, 2015.Follow @ARTINFO_Aus
