Celebrating John Hubbard at New Art Centre, Salisbury

The late John Hubbard’s life and work is championed and remembered in an ongoing exhibition in Salisbury. “A Celebration” presents Hubbard’s works and a book put together to look over the artist’s incredible work. The exhibition will be on view at the New Art Centre until March 25, 2018.As a celebration of the life and work of John Hubbard (1931-2017), the New Art Centre is hosting an exhibition of paintings and works on paper in the Artists House and New Gallery. The book was put together by John Hubbard the year before he died and completed by his family the following year. It includes an introduction by Hilary Spurling and essays by Andrew Lambirth and Sarah Raven. The publication is full of color reproductions of Hubbard’s paintings and works on paper, with the artist’s commentaries beside artworks. An exhibition of paintings and works on paper is on display in the galleries at the New Art Centre to celebrate the launch of this publication.John Hubbard was born in Ridgefield, Connecticut (USA) and educated at Harvard University. Having completed military service in Japan in 1956-58, he studied at the Art Students League in New York and with Hans Hofmann in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
