Galerie kreo, Paris, is hosting “Azo,” a solo exhibition of latest designs by French contemporary artist and designer François Bauchet. Since his solo exhibition of “Cellae” collections in 2013 in which he used felt soaked in resin, Bouchet extended his research on materials and designs further. He has invented a new composite material mixing sand, resin and concrete, which has given the product luster like minerals. The products are created in two colors: an intense brick red and a very pale gray. This new collection “Azo” consists of two main parts: a ‘clover’ shaped column, placed vertically or horizontally as legs; and the large upper surface of different shapes and sizes. The purity and simplicity of the works are awe-inspiring. This purity and simplicity, which are graphic and appeal to our sensuality, are the signature style of Bouchet that is evident in each of his work. These art works are presented in various forms such as tables, benches, consoles and side tables.François Bouchet was born in 1948 in Montluçon, France. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Art in Bourges. His designs have been showcased in numerous exhibitions. Bouchet has included many scenography and interior architecture in his art forms and worked on projects such as the first offices of the Cartier Foundation in Jouy-en-Josas, the design of Le Jeu de Paume café and the outdoor furniture for the Azay-le-Rideau Castle grounds. He has also designed pieces for Cinna, Ligne Roset, Ercuis, Haviland and GHM. In 1987, he participated in Documenta 8 in Kassel, Germany. In 2000, Le Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris held a retrospective exhibition of his work. Since 1999, Bauchet has been collaborating with Galerie kreo and he regularly designs limited edition collections for it, including the “L & T,” “ Hadar” and “Cellae” collections.
