Tibor Gáyor’s “Tectonics" is being hosted at Vintage Galèria in Budapest. The exhibition “Tectonics," on view through May 11, bears the same title as Tibor Gáyor’s 1980 solo exhibition held at the Gallery of Pécs. It showcases a selection of the artist’s geometric paintings, which resemble folded paper, reduced further to two dimensions, as well as sculptural and conceptual works that bridge the space between two and three dimensions. The artist is a well-known figure in Contemporary Hungarian art who has been exhibiting since the early 1970s. “In this exhibit, he presents paintings, objects and sculptural works constructed from mathematically describable, serially folded structures,” the gallery says. “These works search the relationship between plane and space to create two-sided, outbound flat and spatial graphics and canvas objects to maximize the surface of the image. Defined on the lines of arithmetic defined and modelable folding structures of the series are partially quasi-plastic, but the stratified, mostly white surfaces have a plastic effect.”Gáyor earned a degree in architectural engineering in 1951 and immigrated to Vienna in 1956. In the ’60s he began to work as a freelance artist. Some of his most recent solo exhibitions include: “Parallel Oeuvres” (with Dóra Maurer), Municipal Museum of Art, Győr (2001); “Arte d’Invenzione,” Art Gallery Paks (2010); “Photoworks,” Vintage Gallery (2014) and others. The exhibition is on view through May 11, 2018 at Vintage Galèria, 1053 Budapest Magyar, UTCA 26, Hungary. For details, visit: https://vintage.hu Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.http://www.blouinartinfo.com Founder: Louise Blouin
