When he received the Venice Biennale Prize in 1964, he broke a lance for the reception of new American art for post-abstract Expressionism. His world fame had been founded that summer. No artist has broken traditions with so much risk, rebellion and ingenuity as Robert Rauschenberg for more than half a century and transformed the idea of the image into revolts without ever wanting to hurt, so that each of his contemporaries, after 1960, the boundaries of the picture and challenged the sculpture and believed that all life was open to art and could relate to Rauschenberg,” says the gallery.Robert Rauschenberg was an American painter and graphic artist whose early works anticipated the Pop Art movement. Rauschenberg is well known for his “Combines” of the 1950s, in which non-traditional materials and objects were employed in innovative combinations. Rauschenberg subsequently studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and the Academie Julian in Paris, France.  Rauschenberg was both a painter and a sculptor and the “Combines” are a combination of both, but he also worked with photography, printmaking, papermaking, and performance. Rauschenberg’s approach was sometimes called “Neo Dadaist,” a label he shared with the painter Jasper Johns. A retrospective at the Solomon R.
