In the first episode of ARTINFO’s “Game Changers,” Dominique Lévy speaks with ARTINFO editor-in-chief Tom de Kay about her journey into art dealing, and shares her insights on the art market and the future of the art world. Lévy studied art sociology at the University of Geneva, and today owns galleries in New York and London. She deals in Modern Art and Postwar Art, and represents contemporary artists such as Peter Regli, Frank Stella, and Günther Uecker. In its “Game Changers” issue of December 2014, Art+Auction magazine had this to say about Lévy:“Having racked up collaborations with the art world’s finest, from Anthony d’Offay to François Pinault to Robert Mnuchin, Lévy broke out on her own in 2013 to open a namesake gallery on New York’s Upper East Side. Clearly she has remembered the value of a big-name partnership, enlisting some impressive talent to help organize her projects: Linda Norden, formerly of the Fogg Museum, and Peter Ballantine recently curated a fall show of works by Enrico Castellani, Donald Judd, and Frank Stella. The dealer’s independent streak continued, however, when she established a full-time outpost for her gallery in Geneva early in 2014. And just this past October, Lévy revealed a London venue in Mayfair, tapping Lock Kresler, former head of postwar and contemporary private sales at Christie’s U.K., to direct the operation.”
