Prix Pictet 2014 Exhibition Comes to Tokyo

The Prix Pictet has announced a Tokyo stop on its global exhibition tour this autumn, which will run from October 3 through 18 at the Batsu Art Gallery.Established in 2008 by the Geneva-based asset management company Pictet Group, the Prix Pictet is known for championing outstanding photographers who have made contributions to social and environmental issues through their work. Each year, 275 nominators choose over 700 photographers according to a specific theme.The fifth edition of the Prix Pictet, which was centered on the theme of consumption, awarded its highest honor last year to the late German photographer Michael Schmidt for his series Lebensmittel, an epic document of the global food industry. The exhibition has previously traveled to Barcelona, Thessaloniki, Turin, Luxembourg, Brussels, Zurich, Munich, Mexico City, Dubai, Dublin, and Beirut.The 11 photographers chosen for this exhibition are Adam Bartos (US), Motoyuki Daifu (Japan), Rineke Dijkstra (Holland), Hong Hao (China), Mishka Henner (UK), Juan Fernando Herran (Colombia), Boris Mikhailov (Ukraine), Abraham Oghobase (Nigeria), Allan Sekula (US), Laurie Simmons (US), and Michael Schmidt (Germany).Prix Pictet Tokyo exhibition runs October 3-18 at Batsu Art Gallery (1F, 5-11-5 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).Follow @ARTINFOJapan
