“Doubletake” an exhibition of new paintings by acclaimed British artist Ian Davenport will be put on view at the Paul Kasmin Gallery, 293 Tenth Avenue, New York, from September 8 through October 22, 2016. The artist’s first solo show at the gallery since 2013 will investigate the variegated epitome of historical masterworks.Davenport (born 1966, Kent, England), pays reverence to the paintings traversing from the 16th century to the 20th century. The artist displays an incredible account of painter’s taste and has revealed how a prodigious tradition of historical images can apprise contemporary art. With his unusual and exemplary understanding of colors, he uses his signature technique and delivers stylish and cutting-edge vertical lines surging down the panels into rich wades of color.
