Royal Academy of Arts in London is hosting an exhibition “Ken Howard’s Switzerland” that will be on view through October 30, 2016.The exhibition presents a selection of small paintings by London based artist and painter Ken Howard RA in the fourth edition of ‘Academicians in Focus’ series. Inspired by J.M.W Turner’s multiple tours in 1841, Ken Howard RA went for five visits to Switzerland, which eventually changed his perception about the country in a great manner. These expeditions inspired him to create one hundred ‘plein-air’ oil paintings on board and canvas of monumental landscapes, depicting the lakes and the historical towns. “Switzerland is the most inspiring country I have ever worked in, and I have painted as far afield as Nepal and Borneo in the East and Belize and Canada in the West. Nowhere else have I experienced so completely the grandeur of the landscape, the beauty of the reflecting lakes, the space and scale that reduces man to insignificance”, says the artist. The exhibition is the first one to present these paintings to the viewers. The exhibition is on view at Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1J 0BD, United Kingdom.
