“Idiose,” an exhibition by artist and writer Lucie Picandet is currently on display at Vallois Gallery, Paris and will continue to run through December 23, 2016.The term “Idiose” originates from two sources, each of a different language, to embody a unique meaning. Idiose is a French feminine noun formed from the Greek term ‘idios’ meaning ‘particular to’ and the English suffix “-osis” which designates a process of transformation. Idiose designates a thing or thinking made extremely particular under the instrumentalisation of its mediators. Dalle du Lad and Thomery are two distinct projects triggered by this very idea, and pursue the instrumentalisation of the mediators underlying the act of thinking the self as well as thinking the world. The purpose is to go beyond what we already know. Language loses its role as a mere vehicle, and becomes a “tool to think.” Lucie Picandet studied theology, philosophy and the aesthetics of cinema. She also obtained a Masters in Philosophy with distinctions from the University Paris 8 in 2010, which led her to undertake a PhD on the aesthetics of cinema (2011- 2016). This is her first solo exhibition at the gallery. The exhibition is at Galerie Vallois, 36, rue de Seine, 75006 Paris — FR.
