Michelle Kludas’s new body of work is on display at Michael Reid Gallery, Murrurundi. The exhibition of paintings titled “Emerging” is current until December 31, 2016.The elements, models, and characters in Kludas’s paintings exhibited here exist in an envelope of darkness bearing weight in the background. From this darkness, the subjects “emerge” to life, escaping the dark canvas and hence the void. The artist’s confident hand shapes each critter with a few deft gestures of a white oil bar. This under-sketch remains visible, highlighting the process which created the work and bringing a sense of speed and creative energy to the finished pieces. With thick strokes of oil paint, the artist captures the unique personality of each bird – this affinity is no doubt born from a life time of raising chickens, studying their traits and knowing them as individuals. The exhibition is on view at Michael Reid Gallery, Boyd St, Murrurundi, The Upper Hunter NSW 2338, Australia. For details, visit: http://michaelreidmurrurundi.com.au/exhibition/emerging/?info=showClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
