Sous Les Etoiles Gallery will be hosting an exhibition, titled "Blank", by Düsseldorf-based photographer ANDREAS GEFELLER at the gallery’s New York location. The exhibition will feature a series of works by  Andreas Gefeller (b.1970, Düsseldorf, Germany), continuing on the themes of his previous series “Japan series” and “Supervision”. Employing a technically elaborate method to scan the surfaces of urban site, Gefeller captures photographs that tread between both truth and deception, to challenge the boundaries of everyday perception of these worlds. The artist studied photography at the University of Essen and achieved many awards for his work, including a silver for the 2013 Lead Awards for “Blanks” itself. His works has been part of numerous collections in Europe and in United States, including the Museum Marta Herford (Germany), HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt AG, Berlin (Germany), The New Art Gallery Walsall (UK), Elgiz Collection, Istanbul (Turkey), British American Tobacco Collection, London (UK) and many more. His works have also been featured in many solo and group shows in Europe and USA.  Andreas Gefeller creates intriguing imageries treated with pristine and haunting perspective of urban and industrial landscapes. “Blank” is the chronicle of his travel through the world across cities like Tokyo, Seoul, Amsterdam, London, Dusseldorf- consisting images that reflect on what the world could be in the event of a future catastrophe, activating the sense of fears and imaginations in the psyche of the viewers. The photographs are far beyond historic and ordinary optical occurances and create tension between urban reality and its potential chaos leaving the possibility to envision a strange and overthrown world. Using the artificial lighting from the towns and cities and turning them into an ephemeral land of fantasy, these excessively overexposed photographs of building façades, motorway intersections, container terminals and refineries reveal vast faded areas of urban set-ups.The exhibition will be on view from September 7 through November 4, 2017 at Sous Les Etoiles Gallery, 100 Crosby Street #603, New York, NY 10012, USA.For details, visit: www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/sous-les-etoiles-gallery/overviewClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the artworks.
