Galeria Nara Roesler presents “Abraham Palatnik: See, Move,” an exhibition of the latest works by the artist at the gallery’s venue at Sao Paulo.Palatnik, one of the pioneers of kinetic art, presents 15 of his works in this exhibition, the majority of which have never been seen before. These works were created in the past one year and are his current exploration of acrylic paint. These works connect to a number of his previous works such as the painting on the wood from 1992, the historical RS-11 from 1976 along with a few works from his famous series "W." These recent works by Palatnik and his experiments with acrylic paint restore an internal lineage. On one hand, these works combine his earlier experimentations with reliefs that he created on paperboard; and on the other hand, they also go a step further with the optical-kinetic series that Palatnik produced during the 1970s on polyester and during the 2000s using colored wood slats.Palatnik is the pioneer of the kinetic art movement in Brazil and is among the central figures in kinetic art across various international exhibitions. His works have been exhibited in the 32nd Venice Biennial, 1964 and in eight editions of the Sao Paulo Biennial from 1951 to 1969. His works are a part of collections at some of the important museums across the world including Museum of Modern Art, New York and Museum of Fines Arts, Houston. The exhibition is on view through November 12, 2017 at Galeria Nara Roesler, avenida europa 655, jd europa 01449-001, São Paulo, Brazil. For more details, visit http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/galeria-nara-roesler/overviewClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
