Christie’s is making changes for its auction series in Hong Kong this spring by inviting three European dealers exhibit works at its sale venue.As Christie’s previews and stages its latest auction series from May 25-29, there will be a selling displays of works from a trio of well-known dealers.The space at the Hong Kong Convention Centre (where Christie’s holds its twice-yearly major marquee weeks of sales) will be shared for the pop-up exhibition featuring the dealers’ particular specialties. Works by Auguste Rodin will be on show. The Brussels tribal art dealer Didier Claes will be bringing a display of African masks that will be hosted by London sculpture dealer Robert Bowman. Paris dealer Xavier Eeckhout will be promoting his particular specialty — animalier bronzes, with a selection of works by various artists in this genre.There is a cross-fertilization between different strands of the trade that seeks to enlarge the range of material on offer to visitors and the potential clientele for the dealers and auction house, quoted Antiques Trade Gazette.“Christie’s is not only committed to exhibiting and celebrating artworks from across era and cultures, we also wish to forge stronger relationships with our partners in the trade through projects such as this.
