Galerija Gregor Podnar is currently hosting a solo exhibition by Primož Bizjak titled “Alpi Apuane.”The exhibition features a collection of photographs taken between 2014 and late 2017. These photographs constitute a sublime eulogy to the Apuan Alps – a vast mountain range in northern Tuscany, whose numerous quarries were the origins of some of the greatest masterpieces of European art. Bizjak focused in his new works on what is left behind in the fabled Apuan quarries. Born in 1976 in Šempeter pri Gorici, Slovenia, the photographer currently lives and works in Munich, Germany. Bizjak’s prime interest is in nocturnal photography and exploring the colors hidden in the night. His photographs explore the history of places, the borders and the symbolic landmarks. Using long exposures that last several hours or even all night, Bizjak manages to create nocturnal images as if in daylight, gradually capturing the colors through natural, never digital means, to surprise the viewers with what their eyes cannot see in the dark. The angle of the shot is fundamental and to achieve the right one he will defy heights and no-entry signs, exposing himself to risks. In the past decade, the photographer has exhibited his work extensively across Europe. The exhibition will be on view through April 21, 2018, at Galerija Gregor Podnar, Lindenstrasse 35, D-10969 Berlin, Germany. For details visit: http://gregorpodnar.comClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition. Founder Louise Blouin: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/artists/louise-blouin--2953510
