Galeria Contrast, Barcelona, is hosting an exhibition by Robert Berlin made up of photographs taken on a trip to Japan.A show that wants to evoke the viewer primarily to the contemplation of silence — a practice closely linked to the oriental culture and the philosophy of Sintoísme. The artist captures the movement in a subtle way, creating images where the color and the form manage to give a pictorial style to the work and where the fugacity appears in the compositions to contrast traditional Japan with the most contemporary one. An exhibition that, as the title says, invites the reflection and understanding of a very intimate vision of the concept of tranquility and stillness.Robert Berlin, born in Toronto where he lives actually, uses his trips as a source of inspiration to create his artistic work. Even the photograph is his actual artistic method and having a background as a painter makes that evident in the work of the artist.Berlin says, “I still think and feel like a painter, but I use a digital brush and a photographic canvas.”It is in this way that Berlin explores the synergy of captured movement, the deconstruction of the color, obscure and the shadowed form.
