Lucy Vader’s latest works are being featured in "Sky Minded” at Raglan Gallery Cooma. The central idea in all of Lucy’s exhibited paintings is immersion. The artist’s love for the Australian landscape and wildlife have compelled her to be present in it, walk in it, and indulge in its subtle beauty and calm. Her paintings are her efforts in capturing the serene emotions and stilling majesty she feels during her walks in the rural terrain. The works call the viewers to feel what she feels about these landscapes, to quietly understand her fascination and incorporate it within ourselves. When fully immersed, the still glimpses of the natural world appear abstract to Lucy; as she contemplates the world in colors, feelings, and shapes, the end product she creates somehow emerges representational.Speaking about her latest works, the artist says, "I became inspired by Monaro landscape since I first laid eyes on it; the understated yet grand infinite skies and velvety cloaks of ochre grasses. I particularly recall noting that the sheep all faced the same way in the paddocks — positioning themselves like sundials to receive optimum warmth. The region has always been a natural fit for my landscape aesthetic. My mind frequently visits the feeling of the Monaro when I’m working in the studio: there is something about the specific vast but mild-mannered glory that speaks directly to my inspiration. The sky is a governing source of artistic impetus in my work. We look to the skies for our futures, like an ever-changing oracle. When I look at the landscape I see it as an abstract representation of colors, inherited memories, and archetypal feelings. Animals punctuate color fields, skies demand awe, and the land challenges and rewards. I gravitate toward the representation of the luminous splendor of the unassuming, unornamented, yet quietly majestic landscape. To a degree, in my work I am portraying or exploring a psychological landscape, one which ponders Australian history and current weather events, one which seeks to invoke a depth of recognition, and a search for harmony in color, subject, and composition: a union between the sky and the land, and the animals we work with therein."The exhibition will be on view through June 30, 2018 at Raglan Gallery Cooma, 9-11 Lambie St, Cooma NSW 2630, Australia. For details visit: https://raglangallerycooma.com/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.http://www.blouinartinfo.com/                            Founder: Louise Blouin
