"My Favourite Things" at Liverpool Street Gallery features a collection of artworks by various artists including Joe Furlonger, Fred Williams, John Olsen, Ken Mihara, Brian Blanchflower, and others.Speaking about the exhibition, curator James Erskine said: "Some works make one stop and look. They touch the soul, and the world becomes a better place. When you find that feeling, embrace, cherish, and remember."Joe Furlonger is one of Australia's leading landscape painters. He began showing with the Ray Hughes Gallery in Brisbane in 1984 and won the prestigious Moet & Chandon prize for emerging artists in 1988. His travels have taken him to New Guinea, Vietnam, China, across Australia, and a few jaunts through Europe — all providing rich source material for his various exhibitions over the decades.Fred Williams was an Australian painter and printmaker. He was one of Australia’s most important artists, and one of the twentieth century’s major painters of the landscape. He had more than seventy solo exhibitions during his career in Australian galleries, as well as the exhibition “Fred Williams — Landscapes of a Continent” at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1977.John Olsen is one of Australia’s greatest living artists. Born in Newcastle NSW in 1928, Olsen is well known for his energetic and distinctive painting style and in particular for his lyrical depiction of the landscape. He is a major figure in the story of Australian art and his unique and sensual pictorial language presents a very personal view of the world.Born in 1958, Ken Mihara grew up surrounded by the majestic nature of Izumo, Shimane Prefecture, Japan. He has held consecutive sold-out exhibitions in Tokyo and New York since 2008, and his works are in the collections of leading institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum.Born in England but based in Western Australia since 1972, Brian Blanchflower has always attempted to constantly define and record his relationship to the environment and the natural world in his art. His works are more concerned with conveying the processes of nature in his art than the appearance of any particular aspect of nature. The exhibition is on view at Liverpool Street Gallery, 243a Liverpool Street East Sydney NSW 2010 Australia. For details visit: http://www.liverpoolstgallery.com.auClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.http://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin
